Apply for Assistance
SHUR offers programs to help homeowners repair Harvey-damaged homes and prepare for future inclement weather events. Applicants’ acceptance into these programs highly depends on the scope of work and funding. If you have any questions, check out our FAQs page or email gary.flaharty@teamshur.org
Harvey Home Repair
The Harvey Home Repair Program is made to help homeowners whose home was primarily damaged by Hurricane Harvey complete their repairs. Homeowners must demonstrate that their home was damaged mostly by Hurricane Harvey and resided in the house in August 2017. The homeowner must also show that the funds they received from all sources, including private insurance and FEMA, were inadequate to repair their home. Repairs are contingent on the homeowner completing an application, our inspection to verify that the house was damaged primarily by Harvey and that the repairs are with our scope and funding.
Resilient Home Repair
The Resilient Home Repair Program is made to help homeowners repair their homes before the next weather event causes additional damage. Our focus is on roof repair, roof replacement, and other home repairs that prevent storms from causing further damage to the home. We also help senior citizens and homeowners with disabilities improve their ability to live independently. Projects include, but are not limited to, installing grab bars in bathrooms and building or repairing wheelchair ramps. Projects are contingent on the homeowner completing an application and our inspection to verify that the work is within our scope and funding.
